Vote on Account 2010-11

A Vote on Account for £217,908 million resources and £218,765 million cash for central government was presented to the House of Commons today as HC 33.

The purpose of the Vote on Account is to provide funds for spending on existing services during the period from the start of the new financial year on 1 April until Parliament has approved the 2010-11 Main Estimates, which will be given legislative force in the summer Appropriation Act (usually passed in mid July).

In addition, there are separate Votes on Account for the following independent entities:

· the House of Commons: Administration (£73,374,000 resources and £86,231,000 cash) presented by the Speaker on behalf of the House of Commons Commission as HC 21;

· for the National Audit Office (£35,685,000 resources and £35,145,000 cash) presented by the Chairman of the Public Accounts Commission as HC 14;

· the Electoral Commission (£10,741,000 resources and £10,926,000 cash) presented by the Speaker as HC 25;

· the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (£1,280,000 resources and £1,342,000 cash) presented by the Speaker as HC 27; and

· the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (£103,509,000 resource and £103,536,000 cash) presented by the Speaker as HC 19.

The amount sought in a Vote on Account is generally based on a standard proportion (45 per cent) of the amount voted so far for the corresponding services in the current financial year.
